london – Summer Gala Concert with Greek and Ukrainian Music, Poetry and Art

An exciting, rich and varied programme of classical Greek and Ukrainian music, poetry and visual art will be presented at this year’s Summer Gala Concert at The Ukrainian Cathedral Concert Hall on Saturday 7th July 2018 at 7.30 p.m.

This event is planned, organised and produced by the distinguished and well known composer and pianist, Alla Sirenko, at the Ukraine Cathedral Hall, 22A Binney Street, Mayfair, London W1K 5BQ, with the participation of professional actors, readers, singers, musicians and the composer/pianist herself.  The performance is scheduled to take place on 7th July 2018 in the evening at 7.30 p.m. The nearest tube is Bond Street – central and jubilee lines.

It will include poems in Greek and English, songs from the classical repertoire, poems set to music, classical pieces and an exhibition of visual art.

The event will be followed by a reception with canapés and wines.

Music by renowned composers M. Ravel, G. Verdi, Nikos Skalkottas, Mikis Theodorakis, M. Lysenko, S. Lyudkevych, E. Stankovych, and Alla Sirenko will be featured together with poetry by Lord Byron, Taras Shevchenko, I. Pavlyuk, George Seferis and

Musicians and singers will include Elena Xanthoudakis, soprano, the Orfeas String Quartet, Alla Sirenko, piano and poetry readings will be by Maria Vigar, actress and playwright, and Garvan McGrath actor.

Following the considerable success of many high profile concerts and other events organised by the distinguished composer/pianist in the same venue, which regularly attract a very appreciative audience, this promises to be a successful and lively presentation event with a select mixed audience of music, poetry and art lovers and others of different social, educational and professional backgrounds.

Dr Criton Tomazos, who has participate in several of these concerts before, is the Guest of Honour in this Summer Gala Concert, which will feature a number of his poems in Greek, English or in translation as well as a representative selection of his paintings, drawings and other artworks.

There will be a reception after the concert, with savoury canapés, drinks and sweets.
